Hi Justin3, 

 

You will need to get your clients CustData log in details.

 

How to setup SPF records in Cusdata

Step 1: Log in to cusdata with customer FNN/ Account number.

Step 2: Click Primary DNS

Step 3: Click on domain update

Step 4: Select option 4 Assign Host/Alias Names for Domain

Step 5: Click add more host

 

Then…

 

Enter domain name and record type as TXT

IP address/ host name-

 

primary DNS

click on to update on the domain

option 4- Assign Host/Alias Names for Domain.

click add more host "v=spf1 a -all"

Also, who pays - the sender or the receiver of the SMS.

We pay some of the highest fees here in Australia to internet service providers and not to be provided with such a basic service such a requesting a read receipt in email is beyond words. Telstra, in my view, charges huge fees yet is so far behind technologically then other providers. 

 

This is not just a matter we want you to consider Telstra / bigpond... it's something we are requesting as consumers. Pull your fingers from your ... ... and think outside the square and go over and above for us and give us something better than everyone else... we pay for it, we deserve it and most of all... we will go elsewhere if you do not. 

 

I hate you Telstra / Bigpond.

Despite "referring to a spam centre and deleting" spam on webmail to a (Bigpond) spam centre they persist and still arrive - dozens each day! Many are from one apparent email address. And yet there is no effective filtrering. I do not wish tio use the Mictrosoft Live solution mentioned elswehere. Is the Bigpond spam/deletre feature a "just for show" button?

Hello,

If you have a technical issue with the Live/Outlook  system, best to talk to technical support on 133 933.

Frankly, I would cut your losses and use gmail, whose filtration really works.

I need step by step guidelines for changing my email password. Everything I look at in other posts are too general and I am not able to follow and find what I need.

 

My email is bigpond via windows live and I cannot change in windows live because it said I need to get back to my company (or something like that) and I asume it is referring to Bigpond.

 

If I change my password for email in bigpond, it appears that I might also need to change it in my modem for general internet login. Is this correct? I have a Cable connection with a Telstra Gateway Max and the only password change I can see in the modem setup seems to be for the modem password; not the Bigpond login.

 

I realizes that I need to change the password in my Microsoft Office Outlook application and I believe I can do that part without further help.

My mum has an old bigpond.net.au account that was never transferred to the new outlook platform (and I understand that this is now no longer possible).  She now wants to manage her bigpond email on multiple devices and is having trouble because she's limited to POP that doesn't lend itself well to this.  I have created a new outlook account for her and would like to be able to forward her bigpond email to that account, but the mail forwarding in the menu in her bigpond webmail account isn't working (it just gives an error message and says that the function is not available).  This has been happening for a few days so I assume it's not just a temporary outage.

 

I've connected the bigpond account to outlook through the outlook platform but from what I can see outlook only checks a connected account intermittantly so it means that she may not receive an email until 20-30 minutes after it is sent.

 

Any suggestions???

Why can't Telstra do better with their guidelines for setting up email?

They sent me an email (on my old existing email address) with a bigpond email address.

They included the following link   Telstra.com/emailsetup.

I selected "Setup Bigpond email on Outlook 2010". (After all it is a bigpond email address and I have Outlook 2010)

No way would it work and I had to get support to help me. It turns out that while it is a bigpond adress, the actual email is an outlook.com account on the Microsoft site and that was the information required to set up my email and there was no information about this in the email advice they sent.

 

Come on Telstra, get it right. Tell your customers in the email that it is via an outlook.com account and point them to the correct guidelines to set it up. Needs to include the information on how to set it up as pop or imap which needs to be done with web access to the email address before setting up in Outlook 2010.

You will need to change your password through Telstra first - this will change your BigPond password for your email address and your modem too. 

Just have a chat with our Technical Support Team on 13 22 00 - and they'll assist you with resetting your password and updating your modem :-)

I have followed the guidelines for set up to Outlook 2010.

I have included the advanced settings for SSL as incoming 993 and outgoing 587.

 

When testing I can log in successfully to the incoming mail server but fail in the attempt to send a test e-mail.

I get an error message stating " your server does not support the connection encryption type you have specified"

 

Any help will be appreciated.

Hi,

I have the same issue. 

I am trying to get Email working on a new laptop on Outlook 2016.

I am running Windows 10 and have setup the account in Outlook exactly as the online settings show.

 

I deleted the account and started again but still no good.

 

The account worked once then stopped and now I am getting the above error message.

 

 

Ideas?

Unable to connect to an SMTP gateway which is not part of the Bigpond service. Can connect to mail.bigpond.com using port 25 perfectly, try connecting to smtp.gmail.com and the connection does not happen and eventually times out.. Get the same result with smtp.outlook.com so I have to assume Telstra Bigpond is rejecting anything on port 25 which is not going to their SMTP gateway.

 

Question is how do I get this resolved because I need to use port 25 and port 587 to connect to an smtp server so I can send email. Any idea how to get this fixed by Telstra Bigpond?

I'm also trying to block senders. I can see Rules, however when I set up a rule, it won't save it. I want to create multiple rules, however none of them will save  (and yes I've checked the terms and conditions...)

I would imagine that Bigpond restrict it to their own SMTP servers to stop spam

See if you can telnet to smtp.gmail.com on port 587

after having to redo email account after account was suspened without warning, can receive and send emails ok but some newsletters, catalogues are not coming through even though i have them in safe senders list, not using outlook , still on old system

I've tried all of the above and still can't get my emails either, tried configuring it through the above link and it won't even let me select the option after I select pop/imap. I even tried on other z models and it won't accept my email. Please help me I'm getting very frustrated.

My BigPond email account has stopped receiving emails. I can send ok. If I try sending to my account, email bounces back. I've spent over an hour on the phone trying webmail access, different browsers etc but no joy. Any ideas? Suspect account is being blocked somewhere...
