In Outlook 2016:
Go the File: Top of page Left, click, then click on the pop-up window Add Account:
Then follow the prompts and fill in the informatiuon required:
Your Name: Your Name
Email Address: XYZ@bigpond.net.au
Account Type: PoP3
Incoming Mail Server: mail.bigpond.com
Ougoing Mail Server: mail.bigpond.com
Logon information
User Name: I use XYZ@bigpond.net.au
Password: The appropriate password you use for the account
At this stage you should be able to click Test account ... if it fails then....
Click More settings:
And make sure that the box next to My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentican is .. unticked and the box below that Use same settings as my incoming mail server has a dot in it.
On the Advaqnced page
Check incoming server (POP#) is set to 110 (use defaults)
Outgoing server (SMTP) is 25
That should get you off and running.
