I was encouraged to see Bigpond had changed it's homepage to Telstra Media and for a while and I was able to bulk delete - but it soon reverted to its old tricks and error messages for bulk deletes. There's obviously a bug in the system soemwhere and it's been there for years now - so why don't they do anything about it - that's what I'd like to know.
I'm only keeping my Bigpond email for sentimental reasons because I was one of the early Bigpond customers and I've been able to hang on to my original email address which just has my first name and middle and last name initials. But it tries my patience sorely sometimes!
