SOLVED !! sort off and after an hour os so of restarting Firefox. . It works if you turn off Álways Use Private Browsing' under Options | Privacy | then the History option. Then just need to untick the options you don't wish to apply. Not sure how or why this isn't mentioned in the setup notes
