I hate to say this bellzy but, It could well be that your email address has been compromised.
This can indicate that someone has gained access to your email and is using it to spam other emails. I would suggest resetting your password ASAP and checking over the settings of the email to see if any email forwarding has been placed.
If taking those actions doesn't remedy the situation you can report this sort of spam from a BigPond service to Telstras so they can investigate. Just go here and follow the prompts and information required: https://service.telstra.com.au/customer/general/surveys/Report_misuse_of_service

Emails being automatically deleted
My emails are deleting from my inbox, junk and spam folders and doesn't keep all my sent items. This is very stressful as I rely entirely on my email to keep in contact with work and my pay. And my childrens sporting and school commitments. The emails that appear in my inbox are often mere hours old, and occassionally a day old. I can check them on my ipods mail app but logging into bigpond on my laptop only results in more disappointment. I really need to find a way to ammend this as emails have become a main source of communication for my work and childrens education.

I've contacted Telstra multiple times to update my accoung from POP to IMAP but keep getting told that it cannot be done. Paying a premium to be a Telstra customer, I expect to be kept up to date and serviced well. I keep being told that Telstra has technical difficulties with this process and are unable to resolve such after all these years. IMAP is hardly new technology anymore and it is very dissappointing that Telstra are not on top of this. Poor service in this space.

Recover Emails
Hey guys,
I recently disconnected my broadband as I was moving to a new location. After the disconnection of my broadband (ADSL2+) from my previous address, I went to check my bigpond email account (I am still a customer with telstra with a mobile phone contract).
After having tried to access my email account, it displayed that it was deactivated. I rang telstra, and they reconnected my email account. The problem lies with the reactivated account. I cannot see any of my previous emails up to the disconnection date? Is there anyway to recover these emails? As there are critical business and personnel emails that have been lost.

I too have spent frustrating hours with Testra, Apple and a clued up Mac colleague without success.
I wonder if anyone knows why I have been able to send emails with outgoing server: mail.bigpond.com without any problem for years and now since upgrading my Mac OS to El Capitan I can't send them and it wants me to provide a user name and password I didn't have. I went thru the rigermerole with Telstra to get them and now when I put them in it still doesn't work!!!!

Lost email folders and not receiving mail in inbox on Telstra Webmail
Ok here is the background story. Computer and internet connection where affected by hackers. I have managed to fix these issues and successfully checked my bigpond email on Sunday night 31/1/2016, at which time I move some folders around and moved my inbox emails to their home folders.
On Tuesday (2/2/2016) I emailed home a document from work so that I could send off a query about my laptop and on opening my bigpond email via then normal means I noticed that my inbox was empty, so I checked some of my folders also and they were empty as well. Now I know I did not delete any emails from these folders. My wife then sent me an email on the same date and todate (5/2/2016) that has not been received also. I subsequently called Telstra support about the issue and did not receive any help. (Hide behind privacy laws)
As of this evening I still have an empty inbox even though I receive up to 5 emails a day to this email address.
Ok so I run a Windows 10 operating system and have both Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge as my internet web browsers. I also exclusively use webmail and do not have an outlook account or any other type of email software package to run my email account from.

I have the same problem. it only sets up automatically, I cant change manually. I cant go back in and change either. However my emails send. I can change or set up as IMAP. Frustrated also and keen for a solution

Cannot save e-mails and some e-mail attachments
When I attempt to save these Bigpond freezes and I have to logout to resume. Sometimes e-mail attachments open as a Blank Page.
My anti-virus is Kaspersky Pure3. I have had this fpr three years & the e-mail issues have only just started.

Step 6 onwards do not work and wont even to work on 2008 entourage also. El Capitan will not let me go back and change once automatically set up

Sorted!!!
I went into the webmail and set up an alias with the outlook.com as the mail - then put this into mail and worked automatically. The problem was that somone had the same mail username in outlook as my username for bigpond - so had to create a different allias. Hopefully this helps

Unfortunately, once an email account is deactivated, the stored data becomes irrecoverable. For privacy and security reasons, Telstra cannot retrieve such content.
I'm sorry to say that you will not be able to recover those emails.

Thanks for the information.
Luckily, due to the person who deactivated the email without my permission, even knowing that I have been a telstra customer for over 6 years has now forced my hand and I will no longer be using telstra for any other service other than prepaid phone credit. For the rest of my life.

my password is no longer valid
Hi there,
We are currently living in Fiji. We were telstra customers & kept the email address h_marshall@bigpond.com. all is ok with the emails address. It is used every single day, multiply times. Yesterday (Friday) morning when logging in on our desk top it now says the password doesn't match. We have not changed the password & have it set so it automatically logs in.
Emails are coming through on my phone which is a Fiji phone number.
Can you please help. I'm nervous to reset as we don't have an Australia phone number to recieve a text message.
