Hello,
I'm a PostBox user on a Mac & it's been terrific for over a year. I use it for multiple email addresses & it's had no problems to date. I'm on ADSL2.
Last week, my @bigpond.com account (with Telstra) on the IMAP server stopped working/downloading new emails, saying there were no new messages on the server. I've been on the Outlook server for well over a year. The account was a little large (5,000 emails) so I went into Webmail to reduce the number & it's down to around 2,000 now. I've re-setup the mailbox, but it won't import past January of this year. It took about 8 hours to get that far.
In context:
- Other accounts are working fine: I have two BlueHost IMAP accounts setup which continue to work fine. I also have a gmail account that continues to work with no problems.
- I have also tested by trying to set up the
.com on Outlook (via Parallels) & Apple Mail, & neither of them work either. So it's not PostBox specific. - The settings I'm using are as listed on the Telstra account are as listed on the website as the settings: Incoming - imap-mail.outlook.com, port 993 (also tried 995) & SSL; Outgoing: smtp-mail.outlook.com, port 25 (also tried 587), TLS (also tried SSL);
- My connection is at about 4.8Mbps download & 0.76Mbps upload via SpeedTest;
- I need to use IMAP to sync between different devices.
It just seems like there isn't a good connection to the Telstra IMAP server, or some internal barrier on the server that won't let the emails out.
I've called Telstra support - there's a few hours of my life I'll never get back - but unless it's related to mail settings as per what's on the Telstra page, they were unable to help. There is Platinum available if I pay, but they also list they only support Windows enviornments - as soon as you mention Mac talking to most of the techs, they say they don't support it. I did call Telstra Mac specialist as well - but same deal, just ran through the email settings, which I've tried. I asked what other options I had, the only one was trying Platinum.
I've also tried:
- Reducing the number of IMAP connections to 3 in Postbox;
- Uninstalling PostBox completely & reinstalling;
- Installing an older version of PostBox;
- Deleting emails on the date it stopped or where it stops from the download in case it's a bad email;
- Resetting my password.
Many thanks for any help you might be able to provide,
T
