email error

Ive been trying to send an email to my cousin in  England but keep getting this error message   

58233D47000C8997 Message content rejected due to suspected spam. OB703 [Err code: 558]

 

Its only since tuesday that this has happened.  I send emails to this person weekly and have never had this problem before.

Can anyone explain what is happening please ??

Try this:

 

Find out what your IP is via http://www.whatismyip.com/

 

Then check https://www.spamhaus.org/lookup/ to see if it is on the XBL. If it is you can request a delisting as well which can take anytime between 15 mins and several hours. After it has been delisted you should be able to send emails again

 

I dealt with a customer today who was having the exact same problem and this resolved it

Hi Shelly. Unfortunately your link takes me to the telstra general email help page which does not address my issue. Please provide a more specific link. Telstra webmail does time out while I am actively using it which is fairly hopeless.

seem to get 403 forbidden quite regularly and for hours at a time. How to get round it or is bigpond down?

Unable to send or receive emails since 7-11-16

Changed over to Telstra Mail as requested. Set mail client up with assistance from Telstra Bigpond and Platinum.

Email recovered up until the 7-11-16.

No in or out mail since then. Telstra stated that the bigpond server was having some issues and they were working on it.

Didn't think it would take this long to rebuild a server or fix what ever it is that is the problem.

Has anyone else heard of this issue or have a fix for it?

Sorry mate mine was smooth.. I guess you have to call them and put up with the pain of overseas online " support "

I agree, the whole thing of trying to make people sign a 2 year contract to upgrade to this Platinum rubbish sounds like extortion to me and is probably illegal. They should be able to guarantee that the service we pay for works, and if not, to fix it without complaint or devious diversion.

As an aside, the Telstra person who finally accepted it was not a problem on my end and did get some temporary fixes done was utterly confused when I mentioned this discussion forum - she had never heard of Telstra crowd support and had no idea what I was talking about! Her reaction was as though I was just making it up. It is quite unbelievable that the tech support people we get passed to on the phone (if we actually manage to find the help phone number on your website, which is like an Indian Jones quest) do not know about the very existence of this forum and are oblivious to all the discussions of problems that take place here.

Unable to create / send new emails from Webmail

I have been a loyal Telstra customer for many years and was using the Bigpond Webmail for many years. Since the upgrade or replacement system, the new system seems to be unreliable and as I discovered today I am unable to create a new email with simple plain text in the body of the email. I tried cancelling the first email and re-attempted to create and send a brand new email. I even tried a test email sending it to myself with "Test" in the subject and "Test" in the body of the email and that also failed with the same result. On each occassion the following error message was reported:
 
5821EB5B00132981 Message content rejected due to suspected spam. OB703 [Err code: 558]
 
Telstra needs to fix this issue immediately as this is causing frustration to customers and may trigger a need to go to another provider who can supply a reliable and robust secure email solution.
 
In the meantime I will need to use Gmail as I am unable to use my paid Bigpond webmail account.

You can also setup a message rule that automatically moves the mail labelled suspected spam to the junk folder. Sounds like you have a Norton or avast plugin in your email client marking the emails

Sounds like you POP account is set to not leave emails on the server so it is deleteting them as it downloads them. check the account settings, you'll find the delete from server options in the advanced tab

When i finally get to log in ( " 403 " issues ), i only get half or none of the message. Spoke to support was fixed for 24 hours now back to start again, all i get is the headline or maybe first few words.

Hi,

I have just sent my first email on my laptop since the changeover to the new telstra email set up. Won't send the email - comes up with 'error code 558 suspected spam in message'......this is a straight forward email letter to a business - so no spam from my end?

Hi Yastiandrie.

Thanks very much for replying, you are spot on with your advice. I changed the setting to leave msgs on the server and unticked sync this account, then manually copied all my emails across to IMAP inbox,and voila!! they magically appeared in the Webmail !!. A bit more tidying up to then alls good. Thanks again

I see no outages happening around that date and no current nationwide outages listed barring one:

 

There is a current issue with some customers that were on the old legacy accounting system and their email address not working not being able to access webmail but can access their emails using an email program like outlook. Testing is underway for webmail access again but no ETA. That appears to only have come into play in the last few days though and I don't know specifically if that should be affecting you

Ivegone onto telstra mail to update settings and i cant find any option to block a domaim. Where is it? You can only block sender which is useless as these spammers keep changing sender addresses. Good email apps allow you to filter on words in subject or text. Is this available. help please.

Outgoing smtp.telstra.com Mail Server fails to send

Hi,

 

My mail got migrated to the new servers.  I configured my new IMAP account and it worked fine.

 

Then it suddenly stopped working.  SMTP fails outgoing using Windows Live mail using the following settings

 

smtp.telstra.com

full @bigpond.com username & password

Log in using clear text authentication ticked

My mail server requires authentication ticked

log in using same settings as incoming mail server ticked

ports are outgoing 587 SSL

incoming 993 SSL

 

MAiL is received fine but cannot be sent.

 

My laptop has norton 360 installed and I've tried that disabled, and also tried thunderbird, and it failed on outgoing only too.  I then used by old desktop and with thunderbird and exactly the same result, I can get mail, but can't send any!

 

Webmail works fine, sending and receiving.

 

Under IMAP the root path folder is blank.  Is this normal?  Are the smtp servers up or down?  Anyone else having this issue it's driving me nuts!
