If you're still losing emails, I suggest it may be prudent to change your password.
Receiving "[!! SPAM] Mail System Error - Returned Mail" emails to my Bigpond email

Re: Cannot search telstra webmail
I am using Google Chrome and getting this error. I have tried Microsoft Edge and had the same problem. I have also gotten the error "The quick search took too long and timed out" and "Your request could not be completed. Please try again."
I have not tried Firefox or Opera or any other browser. I don't believe I should be shopping around for browsers just so I can get my webmail to work. Telstra should fix this problem, it shouldn't be up to me to fix it.
Re: All email messages have disappeared!
MY EMAILS ARE BACK!!
Got home from dinner tonight, just checking some emails and discovered that my
a. Incoming emails now in Inbox back as far as August last year when I migrated to IMAP
b. Incoming emails beyond August last year in a new Recovered_Inbox subfolder
c. Sent emails
d. Subfolders appear to be fully restored.
So, have to say that everything seems ok.
Now that's great and I am pleased that Telstra have managed to do this, BUT, it appears that it happened only because I raised a bit of a stink on twitter earlier today. Someone from Telstra contacted me and sent my details to Engineering Support and voila! LIke I said, that's great, but being cynical, I can't help but think that this smacks of ensuring that it stops any further criticism that I might raise on social media. Squeakiest wheel and all that. Everyone should get the same attention!!
Anyway, it at least shows that there is a fix that works. I hope its not 2 down and 1998+ to go!!
Re: How do I add another e-mail address to my account
Hi stakka1
These days to add an additional mailbox you need to do the following.
1. Sign into My Account: http://tel.st/cpyn
2. From the left hand column select "x mailboxes" the x will be replaced with however many mailboxes you already have.
3. From there, next to Manage mailboxes, select 'Add Mailbox'
Then follow the prompts to create a new mailbox.
Re: I wish to suspend my email account
Hi TennisFan
We don't offer an email suspension service sorry.
You could close your email account, through My Account and we allow reactivation for up to 6 months, however I'd personally recommend just setting an Out of Office message, and on your return you could just delete the emails. Or set up your email client with rules to delete all the emails for you instead.
We really do only recommend closing your account when you're certain you don't want it anymore.
Re: Why are my emails missing from webmail
Hi Sharon,
We've got information about this here: https://crowdsupport.telstra.com.au/t5/Announcements/Telstra-Email-issue-updated-17-03-2017/ba-p/660653
Re: Reset a forgotten maibox password
Hi velak,
Can use the forgotten password tool here: https://myacct.telstra.com/forgottenPassword?execution=e1s1 to retrieve the password, as long as your correct mobile number is saved under your contact details on your account.
Bigpond Outlook 2016 problems
Hi there, can someone please help? New computer running Office 365. Outlook 2016 automatically configured my ........@bigpond.com with IMAP account. Incoming & Outgoing server is mail.bigpond.com, & Incoming server ports are (IMAP) 993 SSL & Outgoing server (SMTP) 25 TLS. Outlook 2016 will not update Inbox IMAP Folders. My address book contacts display (This Computer Only). What do I have to do to get this data on Bigpond Webmail/Telstra Media? All received emails automatically update to Webmail. Thank GPDH

Re: Receiving "[!! SPAM] Mail System Error - Returned Mail" emails to my Bigpond email
Mail Administrator emails are not actually spam emails
Re: All email messages have disappeared!
My new understanding of the issue is that supplier contracts expired forcing Telstra employees who manage the servers etc to scramble for quick fixes. The resultant haste has created a lot of waste.
TIO Update: I got a call late yesterday from the Telstra TIO dept (based in Australia). I will get the requested credit I asked for but if my emails take more than a few more days to be restored, the credit amount will be increased. It's defintely worth it for retail customers & business customers to lodge a complaint & financial compensation request with TIO a.s.a.p.

Ro2017 wrote:@m_j_short Congrats. Glad this is sorted for you but I would not be storing anything on Telstra's servers anymore.

Initially, I wasn't interested in financial compensation, but the way this has dragged on and the absolute hash that Telstra has made in keeping us informed has reduced my tolerance level to zero. I now believe that they should have to pay punitive damages, not so much for causing the problem but more for what has occurred (or not occurred) subsequently.
How does one go about calculating a compensation level? Any ideas?
Re: All email messages have disappeared!
Hello Spydah
Is your service on a Business account and are you experiencing loss of earnings due to the email outage?.
Re: All email messages have disappeared!
No, it's a private account, but it's causing me a great deal of inconvenience. As I stated, I was being fairly tolerant and wasn't expecting compensation, but this has been almost three weeks so far and some messages are still disappearing from my Inbox.

Re: All email messages have disappeared!
You can discuss the possibility of a rebate with a Team Member http://tel.st/49kl if the Internet service itself was not working.
Re: All email messages have disappeared!
Here we go, already splitting hairs telstra loves to sell bundles and it's all or nothing, mine is email, mobile, land line phone & internet access.
First telstra ruined the webmail replacing a reasonable interface with a clunky 20 year old interface/functionality, then lost all emails contents/history.
Stop trying to split a bundle into componets as it suits you, a bundle is just that: all or nothing.
Compensation should be awarded for emails but telstra does not like splitting bills based on functionality as it involves "human intervention" so they try to convice us the emails are an act of goodwill & if the internet and/or the landline works there is no case for complaint?
People, don't give uo on these faceless people robbing us while slmiling, lodge the complaints with the Ombudsman after the 31st March (the Ombudsman requires a few weeks of failed customer/supplier action to intervene) and demand any amount, it's not important, what is important is case hits against telstra and the paperwork they have to fill in to close th ecase.
In Australia there is no punitive action we can take so like in civil legal cases, it's all about "damages/compensation" and the Ombudsman form will ask at the end what sort of outcome is expected whihc will have to be a $ value, their role is to deliver compensations not "Justice".
