Hi ,

Yes that is the case, the information I have here says:

 

Paid Email

  • Receive the first 12 months at no charge then pay the standard $79 renewal fee (per mailbox, per year)

 

Haven't received emails since Friday 9th June

I am unable to get my emails. I keep getting asked to log in with my user name and password. When I do that, nothing happens. Frustrating. Anyone have any ideas?

Every attempt (per instructions) to LogIn to Webmail spits me to the page section [Suspended Email Address]    BUT 

I was told that my address was being migrated           - ive been on the new platform for eons. imap / smtp 

 

gotta have PRIVATISATION - thanks Johnny Howard, for nothing !

Hi,

 

Yes I can see a spam campaign hitting the Bigpond platform, purportedly coming from account-security-noreply@accountprotection.microsoft.com

 

I am working to block these emails so hopefully you should seem to relief from these in the coming week.

Hi All

 

Looks like I've had an incidence of the dreaded lost emails from the inbox and Telstra have been spot on with their service (i.e. we cant help you and best of luck). 

 

Before I swap over to gmail did anyone get a fix on their lost emails (either old ones reinstated or workout the underlying issue to prevent it from happening again?) I'm on imap and it happened when I logged into my outlook. Was impressed at how quickly the inbox emptied out!

 I happen to be the OP for this thread. I was lucky, my missing emails wre reinstated, mind you not without a lot of frustrating to-ing and fro-ing with various Telstra ppl and twitter. Can't say that I understand why it happened originally or have any confidence that the problem has been fixed so it won't happen again. Clearly your experience says no.

Hi Flemming,

 

I haven't had any for a few days now so maybe your efforts to block them are paying off.

 

I have 58 entries in "Organise inbox" to try to stop the most common (to me) spam and I block at least 10 per day.  I have also had many emails apparently from me - yes coming supposedly from my email address.  Of course I can't "Block sender" but I can use "Organise inbox" to at least delete them when they arrive. 

 

It would be good if Telstra could do something about all this spam.  It would also be good if there was some follow to those we "Mark as Spam" but from what I understand there isn't.

I've moved overseas and now my telstra mail/bigpond will not send via iphone or mac mail program. gets stuck in outbox, rejected by server.

 

Any help on outgoing mail settings?

Hi y'all. My emails were reinstated to all my mail folders after waiting 30 days or so. The Telstra ombudsman dept told me it was due to Telstra not being on top of their server supplier contracts. Some of Telstra's servers are managed by 3rd party suppliers who don't have any obligation to Telstra's customers. Who knows if this will happen again though?
But in May all my emails were permanently deleted from my inbox only. Telstra told me it was initiated by my email client Outlook. This was the first time this had ever happened. I keep all my systems updated including virus protection etc. No other incidents like this are mentioned widely on Internet etc.
So I took action by putting an auto forward on all emails sent to Telstra. Moved all folders sitting on Telstra servers to Gmail etc.
Pretty much Telstra servers not used for anything except forwarding emails sent to its inbox to my Gmail inbox.

It's odd that you're not on the new platform, as all mailboxes should have been migrated by now.   I'd recommend contacting our technical support team and ask them to escalate this so your inbox can be manually migrated to the new Telstra Mail platform.

 

In the meantime please check the following settings, as these are the correct settings for the Mail.Bigpond server:

 

  • Account Type: POP (POP3)
  • Username & Password: Use complete BigPond Email Address & Password
  • Incoming Server (POP3): mail.bigpond.com
  • Incoming Server Port: 995
  • Incoming Server Encryption: SSL or SSL/TLS (not STARTTLS)
  • Outgoing Server (SMTP): mail.bigpond.com
  • Outgoing Server Port: 465
  • Outgoing Server Encryption: SSL or SSL/TLS (not STARTTLS)
  • Outgoing Server Authentication: Yes, same as incoming mail server (complete BigPond Email Address & Password)

Thanks again for your help, got a friend to email my 2nd mail box from Canada , worked as you said, showed up in my "main" mail -box. Good result.

Same thing has happened to us. We are trying to run a business and have hundreds of dollars worth of reports missing! Called technical support but it was useless really. Telstra/bigpond will be getting billed for the re-testing we need to do!

Have you tried logging in using a different browser? Like Firefox or Chrome?

 

Can you let me know the exact error message you get when trying to use Outlook to access your email?
