emails auto deleting after 2 years

I have noticed that  my emails are auto deleting exactly 2 years after their received date.

Sometimes one needs to retrieve a message that is older than that - how can I get it back ?

And how can I stop this auto delete thing?

Thanks

What mail program are you using as you may have it set up under advanced settings to delete mail after 2 years.

I get it using Webmail and only from one sender.  Most but not all of his messages.

Can't open bigpond webmail on laptop...

Hi Telstra Team,

I'm having trouble opening my bigpond webmail on my laptop.

On my laptop I can log into my Testra account, then I try to go into webmail and it attempts to open in a new tab, but never opens, I just get stuck with a blank white screen.

I have no trouble getting into my bigpond webmail on my iphone and ipad.

I'm not sure what's going on, I've tried to find an online answer through crowdsupport, but no joy.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

In May I began to get emails to aol received again!!
I was shocked, but happy.
Now they have been going okay and none has been bounced back for a whole month.
I'm not sure why, but hey, who cares. This is Telstra after all.
I'm just glad I can stop using gmail for people at aol who know me as bigpond.

this is the clsoest you can get to stopping it

1) block senders is a limited function

2) seen a new addition to this problem by another poster when transitioning from ADSL to NBN have reported it to higher ups to see if they can make sense of that one.

3) the main current fix as listed below using rules works somewhat better (does not guarantee you wont still get more spam from spoofing)

IN WEBMAIL:

1) Find Header Information First:

open the email in question and go to More then View Source

EXAMPLE HEADER: (partial header find the rest in this thread):

Return-Path: <edited=bigpond.net.au@millheim.myriadsmall.com> (note the underlined word here for rules section)

2) Rules to be set:

In webmail go into settings and then mail - you will see 'organise inbox'. Create the rule here

If From:  myriadsmall     then permanent delete (note not the whole domain or specific address is used)

3) re-scan all devices used to access email with a different anit-virus to the one you currrently have on all systems

 - scan all drives

- scan all archives (remove size limits)

- scan for root kits

-scan for potentially unwanted programs

hope that helps

Does Bigpond email server support encryption?

I have finally set up my Bigpond email on my new mac.  However, am concerned that when I was doing so, it warned me that my password was not encrypted.  Is there an encrypted server that Telstra can move me to?

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. It has taken a week, but whatever Telstra did last week appears to be fixed now. Mail is again flowing to my inbox. No en to the frustration Telstra causes. If I wasn't a thirty year plus loyal customer, I don't trust the alternative, I would be gone.

really sux being treated this way.

Hey justin22,

I can appreciate your concerns with the email access, and this can come about if the details used for the Telstra My Account service are different to the email account login details. Are you able to log out of the Telstra ID for My Account and this Crowd Support Forum, and then access the Webmail service again via:

http://media.telstra.com.au/home.html

Selecting 'Webmail' from the options on the right hand side of the page and then entering your email account details. Please confirm if this will allow you the necessary access to your emails?

Hi DingoDan,

Thanks for your time. I tried what you suggested. I went to:

http://media.telstra.com.au/home.html

I selected the 'webmail' button on the top right of the page and entered in my log in details and got the same issue... tries to open in a new tab but I just get a blank white screen and this in the address bar:

https://email.telstra.com/webmail/index-rui.jsp?v=.....

I removed the number after the 'v=' incase it contains personal info, but it is 13 digits long.

Thanks.

Hi justin22,

Can you try a different browser? See if  it's a compatibility issue with the one you currently use.

Just to help troubleshoot the issue DavoB, can you confirm which web browser that you are using and if you have tried using a different browser to see if this produces a different result?

Hi I have been on the phone to Telstra about the spam and also about the server not deleting emails afet a certain period. You had this option on the bigpond site. Was advised by the Tech this was not an option on the new site and I have to go in aand delete them daily myself to avoid having thousands of emails on the site. I have tried to block these on the server site but to no avail. Is there any settings anyone knows to do this on the new site? Telstra staff don't know but it would be helful if anyone could advise as I do not want to waste my time deleting emails on my computer then having to go on the server and deleting them there as well.
