Once you have marked the emails as spam in webmail, I would suggest creating rules within "manage your inbox" to move emails containing key words to the junk folder. You can also block the domain of the sender.

Hi
Sorry to hear you're having trouble accessing your email account, if you attempt to access those emails via https://email.telstra.com what happens?
Without a specific pattern, this is not going to be something straight forward.
How many devices are configured to access this mailbox? Have you checked the settings on each device are identical?
Some internet security software can move emails, so I would definitely recommend that you take the time to review the settings of your software to confirm how it manages the emails.
Regarding the sending of emails, do you receive any error messages or bounce back responses advising why was not delivered?

Just want to know how to stop the emails im getting daily of returned mail which i have not sent. Getting heaps
Thanks for respoinding - nice to know I am not alone.
Modem incompatability sounds like a stretch, O disgruntledone.
I've little doubt it is related to migration to the new server. I have to use bigpond for some things I can't change so do want it to work.
I see one can add an inbox rule to permanently delete items so I'm wondering if there is an invisible one on my account? I've added a rule to forward all incoming and will see if that changes behaviour.
Email forwarding, check the box to select messages to stay in inbox or retain a copy or whatever it says.
Forwarding, well they don't, only a few do, no idea why, I have unchecked email forwarding and SAVED, then rechecked and SAVED, and still no good.
I can't access my emails via webmail on my Windows 8 machine, or my daughters W8 machine, I can get them on W10 on other daughters machine. PITA.
So I can see my emails when I borrow the W10 in webmail, and they have not been forwarded. I expect if I hadn't checked to keep a copy in the inbox, I would be like you and have a lot of missing emails from my inbox.
EDIT: And this relates directly to webmail, NOT SETTINGS, why, because I ONLY use webmail to access my email, have done for 15+ years, so there are NO IMAP or POP settings or server settings at all!
Folks, this is a complete mess..
After 3 calls - all together 4hrs wait, 3 online chats - this appears to be related to an existing (since 25/01), known to Telstra Hosting Team - INC-0000024439523 ( so an Indian sounding person from the above team told me after a loooong wait on hold):
'Catchall email forwarding' of domain email addresses 'stopped' working as of 25/01 for bigpond hosted domains
no ETA
Script kiddies front line Bigpond support in the Phillipines do not seem to have been e made aware of this issue either and are absolutely clueless/useless, pointiing back to the 'Hosting Team'
the 'Hosting'Team' has a pre-recorded message on 1300 651 237
"We are closed. Our hours of operations 9:00-5:00 Mon-Fri"
can't get through all Mon and Tue during work hours of course!!!!
the second phone line to the very team 1800 789685 is just keeping you on hold ...
Two complaints lodged through the webform

autoresponder acknowledgment received, no further response
WHERE TO FROM HERE - BIGPOND???? EMAIL TO BIGPOND HOSTED DOMAIN IS COMPLETELY STUFFED and we are paying for domain hosting

So it's not linked to an account, well guess what, they don't know anything about email address which are not linked to an account.
This is what I use and have been using for 15+ years, and they say they don't exist, they say they can't exist, they have to be linked to an account.
Telstra has FORGOTTEN that it used to give out FREE email addresses, and now they know NOTHING about them, can't find them in the system, and now also want to charge for the service.
When I go into my email account, I can pull up an account number associated with this account. Only problem is, the account number which was generated by them when it probably was first inniated 15 years ago, doesn't have the required 13 digits, so you can't go any further with regards to even registering the account. Also, even when I try to register it to my mobile number (with Telstra) it rejects it. I expect it will be deleted soon, along with thousands of other OLD email accounts.
Good Luck!
When you log into "Webmail", what operating system are you using, what browser are you using?
When you log into "Webmail", what operating system are you using, what browser are you using?
Did anyone ever find out oif this "feature" can be turned off?
Very annoying.
Edit for above for clarification, I can see the emails in Webmail using W10, and all the emails are in my webmail account held on Telstra's server, but when I go to my MSN style account where the emails are supposed to be forwarded to, they are not getting there. I haven't checked each telstra account individually, but my main one is only forwarding a fraction of my emails. I sent 2 emails from my MSN style account email account to the telstra one, and then I received one forwarded to my MSN style account, and the other the next day, but didn't receive others that came into the telstra account.
Hi Shelly,
I've conducted a couple of tests and it's seems to be IMAP. If I open an email in my phone it shows opened in email and vice versa. Changing the phone is easy enough but... and I have just been reading the link you provided...
If you are a new customer who has taken up a broadband service with Telstra on or after 21st April 2016, or you have been notified by Telstra that your email address has been moved to the new Telstra MailTM, the below settings for manual email setup will apply to you....
I am a long time existing customer whos email was migrated and therefore do I deduce as it's a preference that Telstra moved my settings from POP to IMAP in the migration at your end? I don't seem to be able to change anything on my notebook or access the settings aspect of mail.
I have removed IMAP on my phone and reverted to POP. Is that going to fix the issue or is there something else going on?
Ooh this is very interesting that you've seen that. Crazy eh! I'd wondered a couple of times if I'd seen it but as I had got up and left my desk then returned I couldn't be sure...
I've raised this a few times now as the oldest email I seem to retain is around 2 weeks in age. The inbox seems to be the primary issue too. I've little doubt it's the way it was set up in the migration but yes, getting clarity on the issue is nigh on impossible. Too many similar stories are emerging.
Just to be on the safe side I flipped my phone mail back to POP from IMAP today but as I never delete all my email from my phone generally that still doesn't stack with why they are disappearing. It's a bit of a test too and now it's documented in this post and my oldest email is Jan 18th at 3:28pm. I'm not moving it from the inbox and I hadn't deleted it from my phone. In actual fact my phone used to show older messages but since updating just now they are identical in content. My sent email was showing much older stuff even pre-migration so into last year and I checked today and 13th Jan is the oldest.
What I don't like is this constant stress of having to move email out of the inbox before they just vanish... oh and the lack of straight talk and solutions from Telstra. Not having a dig at helpful staff... just the veto placed by higher ups on straight talk.
I reckon I know the answer to this one Katwoods.
When you open the email and see:
Sender - Me
Subject - Whatevs
To - You
You'll also see:
Show Image (left hand side just underneath)
Click on that. It's a hyperlink of sorts that allows the message to load in full.
For whatever reason it's now what most of my emails appear like but essentially it's probably got something to do with html as newsletters, blogs and combo picture/work emails are all like this but regular text only emails with no images are ok.
Preview mode should also show you the written content sans images.
Let us know if it works
Show images doesn't work? Bummer. I just told someone that'd do it as it's been working for me.
Still, I don't know why it's now a 'thing' for most emails but most of my emails appear like that. As it hasn't taken the priority of my disappearing email from inbox I'd not mentioned it until today. I'm using Edge and IE11 browsers but tbh it's sketchy in load and update times in both. Outlook on the other hand is good as is my android email. Very responsive comparatively..
Just read another post that said this isn't working for them. Hopefully it will for you but.. it may not?
What the???
Are they spam using your details? Are they to email addresses you recognise? Sounds a bit whack!
Sighs, wouldn't wish the hold/talk time on... but, you may need to talk to tech support on this one.
